It’s deadline day!
I knew today was going to be a hassle, so yesterday — day 4 — I did two new things. In the morning, I chose to go running for the first time ever. I know, I know, I look like I’ve been a runner all my life, but honestly, the last time I went running was when my 8th grade gym teacher, whose name I’ve completely blocked from memory, made me. Anyway, I didn’t pass out from out-of-shape-itude so I’m calling it a win.
Then at lunch I got my first ever foreign library membership. The library here is tiny, cute and up two flights of stairs above a grocery store. And you don’t get a card to keep, they just put your information on an index card that gets stored in a box. The staff there said scanners and such are on the way, but in the meantime, we check out books the same way I remember doing it at the elementary school library: little lined cards with date stamps! I checked out only nonfiction: something about whistleblowers, and two small textbooks. One’s on statistics and data analysis and the other is on women in politics.
Wow. I am a huge nerd.
