Worst part of the job hunt

Cover letter blues have got me down.

For my purposes, a cover letter is one brief note that demonstrates my writing ability, work ethic, winning personality and wherewithal to exceed in the position.

So, just brag, right?

Wrong.

I am horrible at bragging. It makes me feel like a jerk. Not just any jerk, either. That very special jerk who is fresh out of grad school and thinks she knows everything about everything under the hot desert sun. I hate being that jerk, but I could probably get over it.

What’s even more pressing in my job hunt is that nobody wants to hire that jerk.

So I try to walk the line of skilled confidence, showing off the work without being that jerk. I’ll let you know how it goes.
